Ontario Building Code Specifics

The Ontario Building Code (OBC) treats fabric-covered structures under:

• Part 9 for agricultural use up to 600 m² (about 6,460 sq ft — covers our 50x130 and below)
• Part 4 for industrial and commercial structures larger than 600 m², requiring Professional Engineer design

Every Ontario order includes a P.Eng-stamped design set. Our engineer is registered with PEO (Professional Engineers Ontario). If your municipality asks for additional seals, provincial review, or site-specific modifications, those are included in the standard paperwork — no upcharge.

Industrial & Commercial Applications

Ontario's industrial corridor (Hamilton, London, Kitchener-Waterloo, Oshawa) has the highest concentration of our non-agricultural customers. We've supplied:

Northern Ontario Considerations

Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, and Timmins face harder winters than Southern Ontario — design snow loads can exceed 3.5 kPa in parts of northern ON. Our standard frames rate to 2.6 kPa; for Northern Ontario deliveries above 3 kPa design load we use the upgraded truss package (no extra cost, it's just the right spec for the address).

Delivery to Northern Ontario runs 7–14 business days and uses the TransCanada corridor through Sudbury. Thunder Bay is 1,377 km from Toronto and regularly quoted. Beyond Thunder Bay (Kenora, Fort Frances) we can coordinate delivery via our Edmonton hub where distance is similar.

I'm near Ottawa — does your building still ship from Toronto?

Yes. Ottawa is 447 km from our Toronto hub, which puts it outside the free-delivery zone. Standard Ottawa delivery adds approximately $950 over the free-zone price for a 40x80 or similar-size building. Delivery is typically 1-day transit with an overnight scheduled with you.

Do you supply the Mennonite farming communities in Southwestern Ontario?

Yes — Elmira, Listowel, the Mount Forest area, and the Waterloo Region are all within our free delivery zone. We've supplied a large number of Mennonite-community farms; arrangements for non-electric sites (no yard lights, alternative communication) are well within our standard operating practice.

What's the typical permit timeline in Ontario?

Most Ontario municipalities turn around a permit in 2–6 weeks for an agricultural or industrial fabric building, provided the application is complete. The P.Eng. stamp we provide covers structural review, which is typically the review bottleneck. Site plan requirements (setbacks, zoning conformance) are yours to confirm with your municipality.

How does Ontario delivery compare to Alberta?

Same pricing model (free within 300 km of Toronto, published per-km beyond). Inventory rotation is roughly the same — the ten most-common sizes are in local stock, larger or custom sizes ship on 4–8 week lead times from our manufacturer. The one difference is that Ontario customers sometimes wait longer for container arrivals because our container routing favours the west, so ask about availability when you're pricing.
